
Gérard Tsobanian was born in Paris (March 25th 1965), but is of Armenian origin. He is called to head the new generation of the professional tennis word leaders. Gérard Tsobanian is also the right-hand of Ion Tiriac. Ion is an ex-tennis player and one of the most powerful Rumanian businessmen. Gérard Tsobanian lives in Madrid and works as the General Manager of Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid and Sony Ericsson Championships. Moreover, he supervises the organization of the Kitzbühel's and Bucharest tournament, and WTA tournament in Luxembourg, which are property of Ion Tiriac.
Before arriving to Madrid, Gérard Tsobanian lived in Los Angeles, where he graduated in Economics with Cum Laude at the prestigious American University of UCLA. After his American periplus, he came back to Paris where he worked in the head office of the UNESCO for two years. This relation with the UNESCO, allowed him to start the Program “IGUALES” with the Office of Defense of the Women's rights and the WTA.
In 1992, Gérard Tsobanian decided to go to Paris and to meet Ion Tiriac in Germany, where in those days the Rumanian businessman was working as manager of the legendary Boris Becker. Gérard Tsobanian had heard about him, and he also wanted to explore the possibility of introducing himself in the world of the sports marketing. He started being employed by Ion Tiriac at Sttutgart's tilt, and little by little, he learnt and improved his work up to become Ion Tiriac’s right-hand. Afterwards, a part of his responsibility also was the representation of the tennis players Marat Safin, Goran Ivanisevic and Dinara Safina.
He has two children, 5 years old Nicola and Gabriella who is 3 years old. In addition, in his spare time he enjoys practising his two favourite sports: tennis and golf, along with playing the drums.
