Ljubicic will now play Hyung-Taik Lee, who advanced in their only career meeting at the 2004 US Open first round when Ljubicic retired at one-set all and 1-1.

Eighth-seeded Hyung-Taik Lee will contest his third ATP-level quarterfinal (also 's-Hertogenbosch, Delray Beach) of the season, following a 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(4) win over Michael Berrer of Germany. Lee recovered from a 1-4 deficit in the third set tie-break for victory in two hours and 24 minutes.

Both players hit ten aces, and while Lee won just 15 of 71 points on first serve the Korean, ranked No. 80 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race, won 113 points in total to Berrer's 107 of 220 points.
